PageOne vs Ahrefs for small business
Ahrefs has some of the best backlink and keyword data in SEO, and it's priced to match. PageOne does less research and more of the routine work: writing posts, checking rankings, and answering Google reviews.
The short answer
Pick Ahrefs if backlinks and research are the heart of your SEO: its index covers 35 trillion backlinks, and Lite ($129 a month) tracks 750 keywords. Pick PageOne if you're a small business that wants posts written and published, Google reviews answered, and your Maps rank checked, from $19.99 a month.
We couldn't find Google review replies, a Maps grid, or WordPress publishing in Ahrefs, and its reports can't be white-labeled. Its AI writing help is a $99-a-month add-on.
Which one fits you?
Pick Ahrefs if…
- Link building is a big part of your SEO
- You research competitors' keywords and top pages often
- You track hundreds of keywords (750 on Lite)
- You want Ahrefs' free tools for your own verified site
- Your team is comfortable with a research-heavy tool
Pick PageOne if…
- You want posts drafted and published, not just researched
- Google reviews and profile posts are part of the job
- You want to see your Maps rank across town
- You send clients branded reports
- You'd rather spend $19.99 a month than $129
Side by side.
Lite is the entry plan in Ahrefs' main lineup. Ahrefs also sells a $29 Starter plan for one project, billed monthly only.
PageOne checks rankings every Sunday. Individual's 100 monthly checks cover 25 keywords a week, and each check also records the positions of the competitors you watch.
What a year costs.
Billed monthly, with the Ahrefs add-on that helps write content.
Ahrefs Lite + AI Content Helper
PageOne Individual
Paying yearly brings Ahrefs Lite to $1,290 for the year. Extra Lite users are $40 a month each. Ahrefs doesn't sell review replies or profile posting at any price, so there's no add-on to count for those.
What PageOne does that Ahrefs doesn't.
Ahrefs shows you the opportunity. PageOne also does the routine work.
- Drafts full posts with images from a keyword
- Publishes to WordPress on a schedule, or runs inside wp-admin through its plugin
- Drafts replies to new Google reviews and schedules profile posts
- Checks your Maps rank from up to 25 points across your service area
- Builds service and location pages in your saved colors and fonts
- Sends branded client reports with your logo and an AI-written summary

Questions people ask before switching.
Is PageOne cheaper than Ahrefs?
Yes. PageOne Individual is $19.99 a month. Ahrefs Lite is $129 a month, and its AI Content Helper is $99 a month more. Ahrefs also has a $29 Starter plan for one project.
Does Ahrefs have a free trial?
No. Ahrefs doesn't offer trials of its paid plans; Ahrefs Free covers sites you can verify. PageOne Free needs no card.
Does Ahrefs manage my Google Business Profile?
Partly. Its GBP Monitor, in beta, alerts you to changes and can restore edits. It doesn't reply to reviews or publish posts. PageOne's paid plans draft both.
Is there an Ahrefs WordPress plugin?
Not anymore. Ahrefs retired its WordPress plugin on October 31, 2025. PageOne's plugin puts the full dashboard inside wp-admin and publishes posts to your site.
Which is better for link building?
Ahrefs, clearly. It shows who links to any site, which is where link-building ideas come from. PageOne tracks your own backlinks and compares them with the competitors you watch, but it isn't a link research tool.
Can I use Ahrefs Free with PageOne?
Yes. Ahrefs Free gives you a backlink view and site audit for your verified site, and PageOne handles content, rankings, and your Business Profile.
